Just when we thought compact pickup trucks were a thing of the past, Chevrolet announced the resurrection of their Colorado for 2015. It was only a few years ago that both Chevrolet and Ford said goodbye to their line of compact pickup trucks. Their popularity had dwindled and with the introduction of full-size pickups with better fuel economy, it only made sense to discontinue them. Now with the trend of buyers looking for smaller crossovers opposed to large SUVs, Chevrolet is giving those that want to enjoy the driving experience and functionality of a full-size pickup in a smaller, more fuel-saving form. Motor Trend is so impressed with the Colorado that they have named it the 2015 Truck of the Year.

The first thing you notice about the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is it’s carefully designed, sculpted exterior that lends it an appearance of being much bigger with much more attitude than the previous versions. With a range of trims from a rear-wheel-drive 2.4 liter four-cylinder to a 3.6 liter V6 four-wheel-drive version with an impressive list of off-road equipment included. There is also a choice of an extended cab, crew cab, short bed or long bed model. Both the 2.4 liter four-cylinder and 3.6 liter V6 offer exceptional fuel economy for a truck at between 25 and 26 combined city and highway mpg. There is also a variety of add-ons available from bed liners and mud guards to skid plates, upgraded suspension and a variety of other off-road parts.

Inside the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado you might forget you are even in a pickup truck. With a range of trims from basic cloth seating and a surprising number of power and convenience features to the fully-loaded Z71 off-road version, it is nearly as comfortable as a mid-size sedan with an elevated stance. For 2015, Chevrolet has also included its MyLink infotainment system on all models with the option of adding a navigation system. The interior is comfortable, functional and much more stylish than the previous Colorado.

The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado also benefits from all the great safety features that are available. It comes equipped with ABS brakes, stability and traction control, trailer sway control and a multitude of front and rear airbags and a rearview camera. Buyers also have the choice to add-on a variety of other driver-assistance features including a lane departure warning, forward collision warning and more.

The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is a much more driver-friendly truck than it has ever been and has a polished fit and finish that complements its impressive ride and performance. It still gives you towing capacity when you need it, but it will help you save much more of your fuel budget than a full-size pickup. With a choice of four-cylinder or V6 versions with two- or four-wheel drive, buyers have the option of building the truck they want that fits their needs and wants. If you want all the fun and function of a pickup without spending all your hard earned money on fuel, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is worth a trip to your local Chevrolet dealership.
