The Hoover Dam is the second tallest dam that the United States boasts of. It is located at a mere 45 minutes travel from Las Vegas. The dam, which is technically an arch-gravity structure, has been holding back the Colorado River for close to a quarter less than a century. The dam is a tangible example for the word huge. It spreads 1244 feet long and 66o feet thick and connects the Arizona and Nevada states.
