In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling the story of ‘the boy who lived,’ lives on. Harry is off to his third year at Hogwarts but something interesting is already beginning this year. For one thing, he’s stormed out of his aunt and uncles house and for another he finds himself being very well protected by everyone around him. Unsure what all of this means Harry soon finds out that Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban prison, something no one has ever done before. And Sirius Black is after Harry but the reason why may not be what everyone is expecting.

Who is Sirius Black?

When Harry’s family was killed all those years ago it was said that someone betrayed them but who was that betrayer? It may not have been Sirius Black as everyone has assumed for so many years. In fact, Sirius Black is not who anyone thinks that he is. He has suffered much in his lifetime including the death of his best friend and his removal from the life of his godson, Harry Potter himself. But what will he do when he’s confronted with Harry again?

In this book we do not see Voldemort but we are confronted with evil forces. In fact, we are confronted with the true betrayer of the Potter family and we are able to truly understand why Sirius has been kept away and just what he wants now that he is free. But will he really be free? After all, very few people actually know what has happened to Sirius and even fewer will believe him if he tells the truth, after all, he’s been telling the truth for 13 years now and no one has believed him yet.

In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban we will definitely discover more about Harry’s past and more about his future as well, because a long lost family member may just change the course of his life forever, even if that family member is a convicted murderer and a wanted man. Harry will always know the truth and of course, so will those who are closest to him. It’s going to be a long year for Harry but it’s full of surprising twists and turns and a lot of happy moments that are far from expected. J. K. Rowling has definitely struck gold on her return to the magical world.
