Forks Over Knives
Isa Chandra Moskowitz author of Forks Over Knives grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and having abandoned her studies in The High School of Music & Art, she found herself drawn toward the punk rock scene of the Lower East Side of Manhattan in the late 80s, wrapping herself first in a vegetarian diet, then veganism. The experimentation and transformation required for her new diet led to expanding her skills as a cook and as a creator of her own recipes.
While watching the Food Network the motivation to create her own cooking show came because she wondered to herself why there were no vegan shows. The show was popular for its laid-back approach and spontaneous dialogue. The show invited some bands that not only played but even ended up helping out with the cooking.
Due to the success of The Post Punk Kitchen the compilation of a cookbook came in order, Vegan with a Vengeance, in late 2005. The recipes, rather than relying on expensive and heavily processed meat substitutes, use easily available and economical ingredients.
In 2006, Moskowitz and her former co-host, Romero, created a cookbook that consisted entirely of vegan cupcake recipes, Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World, is the name of the book which was named Cookbook Of The Year by VegNews magazine. 2007 saw the presentation of another cookbook named Veganomicon, which is known to be the ultimate vegan cookbook. Some other books written by her afterwards are Vegan Brunch in 2009, also in 2009 Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar, Appetite for Reduction in 2010, and Vegan Pie in the Sky in 2011.
